It is no surprise that flowers can really liven a home or office. That’s why you send them for birthdays, anniversaries, celebrations, promotions, and all those other reasons you call your local florist. But what is really great is how they can be done regularly at home and on the CHEAP!

These above were picked up at Trader Joe’s for $3.99 – seriously!

With a few basic vases in a cupboard, there is no reason that lively, beautiful blooms shouldn’t be a regualar presence at home. Pick them up at the farmer’s market, grocery store, corner bodega, you name it. For under $5.00 a week (my botanicals for the home rarely exceed that number, and if they do, it’s only for guests!), you will be amazed how happy they can make you!

Even those homely flowers like carnations and baby’s breath can look great when bunched together and all alone. They don’t, however, look so hot in arrangements with others!

And don’t just think flowery blooms – branches can be really cool too – and with and even longer shelf life! Especially as we head to the colder months, branches are a great way to go.
These above were snapped on the go (sorry for the blur – blame the iPhone) at local restaurants, but they can definitely be scaled down for home.
