Weddings – even at their worst, they are pretty great! What worst you ask, well if you don’t know, then lucky you! But seriously, at their most basic, weddings are celebrations of love and that in itself is wonderful. Adding to that, many marriages today begin with great parties – friends, food, yummy drinks and music – amazing. What is with the wedding talk, well, being newly married myself, and seeing that summer is wedding season, they seem to be everywhere.
It really doesn’t have to take much to make a wedding exceptional – with the loving foundation that is the cause for a wedding, so much is already there! Beyond that though, I think the weddings that leave you wanting more are the one when the couple (bride) planned the day with the “all about me/us” mentality. If that’s the case – why invite guests? Making guests welcome, comfortable and wanted means everyone has fun! And this is not just for weddings – this is ALL entertaining … take some time to think about the guests!
If you can see in the pictures above (from my own *ahem – bias* beautiful wedding), there were little details, not in your face, that really included the guests. Our guest book had pictures of every guest, along with notes that they included on their response card. It was a bit more work than many would take on, but something that the guests noticed. Also, the place-card menus only had first names – people already know their table, so it was a small subconscious way to make things more intimate.
All in all – I think people had fun!
